Executive Council
The Executive Council acts on behalf of the board between meetings, if
necessary, and assists the Board Chair to plan board meetings. It also
acts as the personnel committee of the Board of Directors as well as
reviews the ongoing activities of the standing committees, their purpose,
and their charge.

The purpose of the Council of Chairs is to ensure both philosophical and pragmatic consistence between the individual committees and the NELMS mission in general and specifically to ensure consistency in vision from committee to committee.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee oversees the development and management of the budget.
The committee also assists the board of directors in fully understanding
the finances of the New England League of Middle Schools. It also advises
personnel in matters regarding financial planning and management of the
budget.

Nominations & Elections Committee
The Nominations and Elections Committee oversees membership voting
of officers and regional representatives. Its focus is to insure
the integrity of the membership voting process. This committee reviews
procedures, counts ballots, tabulates results and reports the findings
to the Board of Directors. This committee also recommends changes
in procedures, representation, and other related matters to the board.

Professional Resources
This committee reviews, recommends, and generates resources for educators,
students, and parents. This information may be produced in a variety
of formats, printed or electronic. The committee acts upon the recommendations
jointly reached by personnel, the board of directors, and its own
members.

Recognition Committee
This committee celebrates and publicly recognizes creative

Research & Assessment
The mission of the Research and Assessment Committee is to collect
and disseminate research about appropriate practices for young adolescent
education. This committee will work collaboratively with other committees
toward this purpose. Organizations will be identified who actively
engage in middle level research. Research, and its application will
be shared with those who service young adolescents.

The Technology Committee assists NELMS in identifying the technology
needs of our members and designs activities that address these needs.
It also assists NELMS in developing its own technological
capacity as a business tool and as a way to more effectively communicate
