Essay Contest is back!
NELMS teams with New Hampshire Motor Speedway &
Speedway Children's Charities once again

he New Hampshire Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities and New Hampshire Motor Speedway, in cooperation with the New England League of Middle Schools, announces their third Annual Essay Contest! The competition is for middle school students to win a “class pack” of 25 tickets to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race in Loudon, N.H. One individual student essay winner in each of the New England states will be chosen and that student’s class will receive 25 tickets to be distributed at the discretion of building leadership to attend the New Hampshire 301 race on Sunday, July 22, 2018.

The topic of the essay is “KINDNESS MATTERS: How kindness is, and can be, demonstrated in our school” Each individual student submission should include the student’s name and grade level only. A school official should collect all essays and place a cover sheet over the “batch” that includes the name of the school, school address, and name of the principal or primary contact person. All essays must be received at NELMS via first-class mail or e-mailed to by midnight on May 18th, 2018 and winners will be notified by June 8th, 2018 for attendance to the Sunday, July 22, 2018 event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

A panel of judges will read the essays and choose the winners. All judges’ decisions will be final, and tickets will be delivered to the winning school for distribution in Mid-June. Neither NELMS nor NHMS will be responsible for transportation or logistical details in arranging for the attendance at the event. That is the responsibility of the school and/or the individual ticket holder. The winner from each state and their school will be announced in the NELMS September Mid-Lines Newsletter..
